Refit/Ceramic Coating/Final Checks
As we move towards the collection date we complete the final build up. A ceramic coating is applied to the paintwork to provide a deep and lasting shine and protection. We carry out road tests, torque settings are checked and we start our final valet procedure ready for Andy to sign off on his quality control checks.
Refit, gearbox, overdrive, exhaust and start up.
This week sees the refit continue. We fit the rebuilt gearbox and diff and fill the fluids. The drive shafts are coupled up. A new clutch slave cylinder and push rod are fitted and the system bled. The new exhaust system is fitted. Fuel is purchased and we work towards a start up. We adjust the timing, carry out a tune and adjust the jets.
Refit, gearbox, overdrive.
This week sees the refit continue. Fitting of grilles, badges more interior work. Second-hand parts sourced for the seat belt cover. The gearbox and overdrive have also be overhauled. The J type box has been stripped and rebuilt fitting the correct 1st hub and replacing the reverse idler. Welding was needed to the case of the overdrive. Timkin bearings were used on the pinion and quality bearing used elsewhere plus new seals as required. The solenoid was also tested on a jig and was working well.
Refit
This week sees the refit continue. The fluids on the car are filled. Items such as the air vents are refurbished. The gauges are fitted to the dash and the new dash fitted to the car. New door handles are assembled and many other trim items refitted. Bumpers and lights are also fitted and electrical test carried out. Due to the state of the hood frame it has also been decided to get a refurbished frame.
BODYWORK
This week sees the welding continue. Small repairs are carried out around the engine bay, new panels are trial fitted for alignment and once we are happy we weld in a new radiator support panel, the new near side front wing is welded on and the new front valance is fitted. While this work is completed we also start to refurbish the suspension items which are blasted, cleaned and painted in the booth along with a batch from other cars.
BODYWORK
This week sees the welding continue. The near side front wing and front valance are prepared ready for fitting. We replace the near side front inner arch and splash panel after trial fitting the wing for alignment. The old radiator support panel is removed and repairs carried out to the surrounding area.

This week sees the welding continue. Repairs to the near side door are completed. The inside of the door and new door skin are then painted for rust prevention before the new skin is fitted. The door is then trial fitted on the car for alignment. Next the near side front wing is removed, the inner wing is cleaned down and a rust prevention treatment applied. The front valance is also removed. Repairs are also carried out to the front of the near side sill area.
BODYWORK
This week sees the welding continue. Firstly we replace the offside door skin, internal areas of the door and the back of the skin is primed and painted for rust prevention. Next the inner front wheel arch is primed and painted along with the reverse of the new wing which is then welded in place, the door and bonnet are trial fitted during the welding on of the wing to check for correct gaps and alignment.
BODYWORK
This week sees the welding continue to the shell. Repairs are carried out to the inner and outer sections of the upper A post and a new screen gutter panel fitted. The lower section of the A post also has repairs carried out. Our attention then moves to the doors. A new lower door repair panel is welded into the off side door which will also have a new door skin fitted. The internal areas of the door are zinc primed and painted ready for the skin to be fitted. Repairs also start on the near side door.
BODYWORK
This week sees the welding continue to the shell. Repairs are finished to the offside rear inner arch. The offside rear outer quarter panel is then fitted after the reverse of the panel and the inner arch are painted. The offside sill end cap is replaced. Repairs are carried out to the area surrounding the offside seat belt mount. Rear shock mounts are repaired. The nearside A post and gutter rail see repairs carried out. The floors of the shell are then epoxy primed and sound deadening pads are fitted. Work then moves to the offside A post for repair work.
BODYWORK
This week sees the new boot floor welded in. Repairs are carried out around the near side rear inner and outer arch. A section of the lower quarter panel is removed and replaced and repairs carried out where the inner and outer sills were found had rotted away. The off side has the rear quarter panel removed and a new inner arch repair panel fitted, the inner sill on this side is also repaired where on this side the inner sill had rotted away. A seat belt mount was also found to be week and so repaired.
BODYWORK
This week sees the bodywork continues with welding repairs to the off side outrigger, sill to floor repairs. A damaged section of the near side front chassis is removed and a section fabricated and welded in, areas revealed are treated before welding on the new section. The off side rear spring mount is replaced and repaired underneath, again any revealed areas are treated before the replacement panel is welded on.
