Year in review 2020

It’s no secret that 2020 has been a challenging year for most of us! Nevertheless, at AM Restorations we have still been able to accomplish some amazing classic car restoration projects. In this blog, we take a look back at the challenges and highlights we have experienced during this year.

The Business and Team

At the start of the year our office underwent a significant change to become more customer focused. We created a new reception area now customer facing to greet people with a much-needed customer waiting area with access to a viewing window to the workshop. We have created a new digital customer filing system and new processes which now allow us to streamline our high-quality service and be even more on the pulse regards the long-term restoration projects we have in and this is working well.

Following advice from the Government regarding COVID-19 we took the decision to temporarily close on 25th March and re-opened our workshop 7 weeks later, on 12th May. We were so excited to get back to doing what we love the most and catching up on our projects. With a member of our staff remaining at home for health reasons, the whole team came together to keep things pushing working seamlessly in the workshop. It was definitely a busy return to work for all concerned!

Projects

We have had the pleasure of working on some great projects this year, with one of the highlights being a Datsun 280C. This car underwent a body restoration, engine bay detailing, received a bespoke lowering kit and purpose-built period style new alloy wheels.

We also welcomed one of the biggest cars we have seen in the workshop in the form of a Chrysler New Yorker.

One of the Triumph Stags we are currently restoring has received a full paint job to the underside, giving it a stunning look.

What’s next for 2021?

We’ve been through a lot in 2020, and the pandemic threw a curveball to local businesses like ours. However, it’s been an eyeopener, we have adapted and changed the way we work, the workshop and website, and are in a position to be COVID safe. We are asking people to visit by appointment only, personalised pages allow people to follow their restoration projects remotely, payments can be taken over the phone or bank transfer and communication by phone and email has increased. I am sure 2021 will see us grow stronger as a business and as a team and hopefully, allow us to get out to some car shows, meet our customers existing and new and organise charity events – which we wished we could’ve done this year.

Merry Christmas and a happy New Year from Andy and all the team at AM Restorations!
